Hey, good timing! We want to take a moment wish a very happy 9th birthday to the fantastic folks at AdHouse Books.
These guys help bring attention to some of the best new talent in comics and produce some of the most beautiful, well designed stuff out there. If you’ve ever met AdHouse Publisher, Chris Pitzer you already know he’s one of the good guys.
What you may not know is how much Mr. Pitzer has contributed to SPX over the years, not just with the participation of AdHouse, one of our cornerstone small press publishers, but as an active SPX steering committee member.
Chris has given a lot of time and talent to SPX, including handling the production of our old print anthology (R.I.P). More recently, Chris has come through for us on things big and small, helping out with letterhead, business cards and even our swank new logo.
As you saw in the preceding post from SPX exec. director Warren B., Chris started out making mini-comics and sharing them at SPX (mini-comics that are now headed to the SPX Permanent Collection at the Library of Congress, BTW).
He’s gone on to publish work from folks like: Paul Pope, James Jean, Jim Rugg, Stuart Immonen, Scott Morse, Joel Priddy and Jay Stephens as well as beautiful anthologies like Project: Telstar and Project: Superior.
He’s also brought attention to many bright new talents like Lamar Abrams and Adam Hines to name just two.
We’re so grateful to have Chris as a member of our SPX family and we couldn’t be happier for AdHouse Books’ success.
Hop on over to their website for more snapshots from the last nine years. And if you’re not already following AdHouse on Tumblr, what in the world are you waiting for?!?
